Could your realestate prices actually be going up?

When I got a report in my email box the other day that the value of my house had gone up in value, I figured it was a fluke. (Zillow.com)

According to this article, it was not.

Something interesting is going on with residential real estate in Duluth (the one here in Georgia). Things are all doom & gloom all around the country in terms of resale values, # days on market for real estate listings, foreclosure rates and pretty much every other statistic you can measure. In fact, all around Gwinnett there are some rough numbers to report.

I technically live in Lawrenceville, near Duluth, so be sure to check your value even if you are not in Duluth GA.

Quality of Life in Lawrenceville GA

21.7 GRASS, WEEDS AND UNCULTIVATED VEGETATION
Premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from grass, weeds or uncultivated vegetation in excess of twelve (12) inches in height.

(We can let our grass get 12 inches high?)

21.8B PARKED VEHICLES
All vehicles in the front or side yard must be parked on a concrete or asphalt surface. Parking in the rear may be on gravel but not grass or dirt.

21.19 PRIVACY
Dwellings units, hotel units, rooming units and dormitory units shall be arranged to provide privacy and be separate from other adjoining spaces.

21.22.1 Area for Sleeping Purposes
Every bedroom occupied by one occupant shall contain at least seventy (70) square feet of floor area, and every bedroom occupied by more than one occupant shall contain at least fifty (50) square feet of floor area for each occupant thereof.
(my family of 9 kids would have been run out of the neighborhood).

Don't get me wrong, I think the quality of life ordinances are good... just ironic.

Houses Losing Value Quickly!

This morning my Lawrenceville Google Alert held a house listing for a house on my street in the same Gated community I live in. The house is listed at $225,000. My house is the same size, and I paid over 50,000 more 6 years ago. The lady across the street has the smallest house in the subdivision and she paid almost $400,000 2 years ago. Houses in the next subdivision all sold for over $600,000, and there are some down the street under construction at $900,000 (I doubt they'll sell at those prices). Still this house is listed at $225,000!

If this is a correction, I don't want to be right!
