One of Lawrenceville's oldest citizens, Vinie Lowry, age 99 of Lawrenceville GA died Saturday January 3, 2009.

According to The Gwinnett Citizen, Ms. Lowry was a native of Gwinnett County and lived in Gwinnett all her life.

She was Gwinnett County Woman of the Year in 1952, and volunteered her time to serve in many organizations in Gwinnett.

She helped organize Hi Hope Center and worked with special needs citizens. The workshop at the center was named for her when it was dedicated in 1973.
