Politicians want to avoid raising taxes

From what I've heard, the politicians keep avoiding raising income taxes, so we've all been under-taxed for several years.

Eventually, the time will come that we will have to play "catch up." Politicians want to make us happy so they can get re-elected, but we need to be able to accept bad news too.

  1. You are correct about the undertaxation (described as not adopting a millage rate high enough to fund the approved budget). I studied the millage rates of all Gwinnett cities, the county and the school board in 2005. You can find the results of my analysis here: www.millagerate.com/gwinnett/

While most cities overtaxed, it was the county, the school system, Loganville and Norcross that UNDERtaxed. Only one city, Grayson, got it right and I think that they did it by accident.
