The girl's softball team at Archer High School, in only their 2nd season of existence went all the way to the sweet 16 before losing to the state champions. Right now, we are fighting a bigger battle than they every faced on the field. They have no dugouts. The booster club is trying to raise $33,000 to get the dugouts built by this fall, or we won't have any home games.
We are selling raffle tickets for $10 - with 3 prizes: the grand prize is an Apple iPad, 2nd prize is $125 in restaurant giftcards, and third prize is $100 QT gas card. We are also hosting a golf tournament on April 14th, we need participants and sponsors.
We could really use all the community support we could get for this new school, and being a girl's sport, we get less publicity than the boys do, and a lot less financial support from the community by way of ticket sales and all. We still need to buy dirt for the field right now, and our dreams of a concession stand (we have a spot of dirt with a couple of pipes where we will eventually have running water and bathrooms to replace the awning and porta-potties) are a few years away." ~ Julie Wyngaert
