Air Force Academy’s Winningest Coach to Speak at FCA Gwinnett Awards Banquet March 17
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. – March 2, 2011 - Fisher DeBerry, the Air Force Academy’s football coach with the most wins and highest winning percentage in the school’s history, will be the keynote speaker at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes(FCA) Gwinnett annual awards banquet and ceremony, March 17.
Set for 7 p.m. at the North Metro Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, Ga., the event will honor Gwinnett high school athletes, cheerleaders, and coaches for their leadership and contributions to their schools.
Coach DeBerry led the Falcons for 22 years, amassing 169 wins, 3 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) titles, and 12 bowl bids. Before retiring in 2006, he was named three times as WAC Coach of the Year, received the NCAA College Football Coach of the Year award, and was president of the American Football Coaches Association.
The FCA Gwinnett Awards event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia, trips, gift certificates and other items and an invitation-only reception for FCA Gwinnett sponsors, guests, and award nominees. Funds raised from the auction and ticket sales will fund FCA Gwinnett programs, camps and staff.
Individual tickets for the event are $75 and corporate sponsorships, ranging from $800 to $25,000, are also available.
