Gwinnett Courthouse evacuated due to smoke

This happened Monday morning.

Firefighters and county maintenance workers searched each floor of the building to make sure it was clear, and eventually found the source of the smoke in the basement.

The boiler unit was being fed by too rich a mixture of oil, causing the smoke, Rutledge said.

The problem was isolated just before 7:30 a.m., and staff was able to return to the building around 8 a.m., authorities said.

No one was hurt and there was no damage to the building, Rutledge said.
