Free family reunion workshop and showcase

DeKalb Convention & Visitors Bureau (DCVB) will host a free Family Reunion Planning Workshop and Showcase on May 2, 2009 at the Holiday Inn Select Perimeter. The workshop is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Carol Murray, DCVB Reunion Specialist will provide expert advice that takes you step-by-step through the planning process.

A family reunion showcase is planned from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. following the workshop. Representatives from DeKalb hotels, attractions and reunion vendors will be available to provide information and answer questions about reunion accommodations and services.

At the workshop, DCVB will distribute a number of free materials to assist with family reunion planning. Reunion planners will be presented with information to execute a successful, safe, fun and memorable reunion. Information regarding accommodations, attractions, event and recreational facilities will be available.

Workshop attendees who sign agreements with DeKalb hotels will receive a family reunion planning binder that includes information about how to establish planning committees, budgeting, activity planning and much more. Information about free services that the DCVB provides including souvenirs, children’s bags and name tags for each family member will be provided.

The showcase provides an opportunity to gather to meet with professionals to share information and sample reunion vendor offerings. Stone Mountain Park, 3-D Media, Lamplighter Tours, Atlanta History Center, Macy’s, National Archives, Medieval Times in Lawrenceville GA, Georgia Aquarium and a host of other vendors will participate at the Showcase.
