A Gwinnett Sheriff's deputy was killed Thursday night in a single-caraccident on Highway 29 near Ga. 16 in Lawrenceville. Alvin Thornton, 58,was reportedly traveling north on U.S. 29 when his car suddenly veered acrossthe southbound lanes and down an embankment.
